Peter Magowan, American businessman, Died at 76

Lenin Rajendran, Indian film director, Died at 67

Lenin Rajendran was born in Trivandrum, Kerala, India and died on January 14, 2019.

Patrick Malrieu, French business executive, Breton activist & historian, Died at 73

Meera Sanyal, Indian banker, Died at 57

Meera Sanyal (née Hiranandani) was born on October on 1961 and died on January 11, 2019.
She was a CEO and chairperson of the Royal Bank of Scotland in India. 

Meera was the daughter of a highly decorated Naval officer, Vice Admiral Gulab Mohanlal Hiranandani.

Sanyal was the former Chairperson of the Indian Advisory Board of AIESEC, the world's largest student organisation. 

Meera Sanyal passed away at 57 years old due to cancer.

George Brady, Czech-Canadian Holocaust survivor and businessman, Died at 90

George Brady was born as Jiří Brady was on February 9, 1928, and died on January 12, 2019.

He was a Holocaust survivor of both Theresienstadt (Terezin) and Auschwitz (Oswiecim, Poland).

He was a Canadian businessman and was awarded the Order of Ontario, in 2008, and the Cxech State Medal in 2016.


He was the son of Markéta and Karel Brady, and brother of Hana Brady.
During 1942, his mother and father had been separated from their children and sent to prisons and Nazi concentration camps.

George was sent to Theresienstadt a ghetto-camp not far from Prague with one sibling, he was lucky to escape, after sharing a small space with over 40 other young boys including Petr Ginz, Yehuda Bacon and Kurt Kotouc. 

His sister Hana Brady was given a gas chamber execution.
He escaped during a death march to Germany during January 1945, the same month Auschwitz was liberated.
George Brady passed away in Toronto, Canada, at 90 years old.

John Mendelsohn, American pharmacologist, Died at 82


John Mendelsohn was born on August 31, 1936 and died on January 7, 2019.

He was a president of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Mendelsohn was an internationally recognized leader in cancer research.

He served as MD Anderson president from 1996 to 2011.

John Mendelsohn passed away at 82 years old.

Blake Willard Nordstrom, American businessman, Died at 58

Parvathamma Rajkumar, Indian film producer, Died at 77

Parvathamma Rajkumar was born on December 6, 1939, and died on May 31, 2017.

She was an Indian film producer and distributor.

Parvathamma was the wife of Veteran Kannada actor Rajkumar.

Rajkumar produced successful films featuring Rajkumar and their sons Shiv Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar under the production house named "Poornima Enterprises".

Other actresses who had found fame in her productions include Malashri, Prema, Rakshita, Sudha Rani and Ramya.

Rajkumar was awarded with a doctorate from Bangalore University.

One of the awards Rajkumar has received are the Phalke Academy award, Kannada Rajyotsava, and a lifetime achievement award from the Government of Karnataka.

After attending hospital for treatment of weakness she was admitted to intensive care when she found it diffcult to breath, she died due to an heart attack.

Parvathamma Rajkumar passed away at 77 years old.

Sandy Pearlman, American record producer and band manager, Died at 72

Samuel C. "Sandy" Pearlman was born on August 8, 1943, and died on July 26, 2016.

He was an American music producer, artist manager, professor, poet, songwriter, and record company executive.

Samuel was best known for founding, writing for, producing, or co-producing many LPs by Blue Öyster Cult, as well as producing important albums by The Clash, The Dictators, Pavlov's Dog, Space Team Electra, and Dream Syndicate; he was also the founding Vice President of eMusic.com.

Sandy was the Schulich Distinguished Professor Chair at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, and from August 2014 held a Marshall McLuhan Centenary Fellowship at the Coach House Institute (CHI) of the University of Toronto Faculty of Information as part of the CHI's McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology.

Sandy Pearlman passed away at 72 years old.
