Biraj Kumar Sarma, Indian politician, Died at 70

Biraj Kumar Sarma died on January 15, 2019.

He was an Asom Gana Parishad politician from Assam.

Sarma was elected in Assam Legislative Assembly election in 1996 from Gauhati East constituency.

Malik Mazhar Abbas Raan, Pakistani politician, Died at 65

Malik Mazhar Abbas Raan was born on February 1, 1953, in Multan and died on January 16, 2019.

Milan Pančevski, Macedonian politician, Died at 83

Milan Pančevski was born on May 16, 1935 and died on January 9, 2019, in Skopje.

He was a Macedonian politician.

Milan Pančevski was the final President of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia from 1989 to 1990, when the party was dissolved. 

Before he was the President of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, he was president of the League of Communists of Macedonia from 1984 to 1986.

Milton Bluehouse Sr., American politician, Died at 82

Milton Bluehouse Sr. was born in 1935, in Ganado, Arizona and died January 14, 2019.

 
He was the fourth leader of the Navajo Nation in the post-Restructuring of the innate government.
 
Bluehouse Sr likewise filled in as the VP in the workplace of his antecedent Thomas Atcitty.

Francisco Manuel Lopes Vieira de Oliveira Dias was born on February 17, 1930 and died in January 2019.

 
He was  a Portuguese politician.
 
Dias was a child of Francisco António do Amaral Dias, a Medical Doctor, and spouse Maria Isabel Charters Lopes Vieira da Câmara de Oliveira (b. 1904), identified with the first Viscounts of São Sebastião. 

Dias was a partner of the Founders of then-Democratic and Social Center (CDS), and possessed numerous workplaces in this Party. 

In 1974 he was chosen a Deputy to the Constituent Assembly and in 1976 to the Assembly of the Republic, where he was progressively chosen until 1983.

Dias was the fourth President of the Assembly of the Republic between October 22, 1981, and 2 November 1982, amid which he was likewise a Member of the Portuguese Council of State. 

Dias was likewise a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council and of its Commission of Education and Culture. 

He Dias wedded Maria das Mercês Coelho da Silva Gil, the daughter of Adelino da Silva Gil (Figueira da Foz, Alhadas, 27 October 1885 - Lisboa, 25 June 1935) and spouse Deolinda Duarte Coelho (Vouzela, Vouzela, 1 March 1887 - Lisbon, 26 September 1955), and had eleven youngsters.

Anthony Colaizzo, American politician, Died at 88

Shivajirao Deshmukh, Indian politician, Died at 84

Shivajirao Bapusaheb Deshmukh was born on September 1, 1935 and died on January 14, 2019.

 
He was a Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council in India.
 
Deshmukh  was elected to Maharashtra Legislative Council in 1996 and 2002.

Paweł Adamowicz, Polish politician, Died at 53

Paweł Bogdan Adamowicz was born on November 2, 1965, and died on  January 2019.
 
He was a Polish politician and lawyer.
 
He served as the mayor of the city of Gdańsk, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland until his assassination. 

Adamowicz attended law school at the University of Gdańsk, where Pawel also became a prominent student movement member. 

Paweł Adamowicz was one of the organizers of the 1988 strike and became the headperson of the strike committee.

Paweł Adamowiczserved as a vice-rector at his alma mater, between 1990 and 1993.
 
Paweł Adamowicz was stabbed on stage at the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity event in Gdańsk and was taken to hospital in critical condition ,on January 13, 2019.

Paweł Adamowicz died the following day from the critical wounds he sustained.

He passed awy at 53 years old.

Pierre de Bané, Palestinian-born Canadian politician, Died at 80

Pierre De Bané was born on August 2, 1938 and died on  January 9, 2019.

He was a Canadian senator.
Bané was the first person of Arab descent to be elected to the House of Commons of Canada in Matane and next Matapédia, Matane, and was a member of the Canadian Cabinet.

Bané left  the Senate upon turning 75 on August 2, 2013.

Pierre De Bané passed away at 80 years old.

Gebran Araiji, Lebanese politician, Died at 67

Gebran Araiji was born in Zgharta in 1951 and died on January 9, 2019.

 
He was  a Lebanese politician and former president of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP).
 
He joined the SSNP in 1970 and working since 1974 in the party's official organ publication.

Araiji emigrated to Latin America in 1975, then in France in 1977 and returned to Venezuela from 1978 to 1990.

Returning to Lebanon in 1990, Araiji  was President of Syrian Social Nationalist Party from 2001 to 2005. 

Gebran Araiji passed away at 67 years old.

Jaime Rosenthal, Honduran businessman and politician, Died at 82

Jaime Rolando Rosenthal Oliva was born on May 5, 1936, and died on January 12, 2019.

He was a Honduran politician.

He was the leader of one of Liberal Party of Honduras's (PLH) wings and was a perennial candidate for President.

On March 20, 1974, Rosenthal was the founder of the Banco Continental.

He was labeled a "specially designated narcotics trafficker" under the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act, on October 7, 2015.

Steffan Lewis, Welsh politician, Died at 34

Steffan Lewis was born on May 30, 1984 and died on January 11, 2019, in Ystrad Mynach.
He was a Welsh politician.

He was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in the 2016 election.

Steffan Lewis  represented the electoral region of South Wales East as a member of Plaid Cymru.
During December 2017, he was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer.

Dimitris Sioufas, Greek politician, Died at 75

Dimitris Sioufas was born on August 15, 1944, in Ellinopyrgos, Karditsa and died on January 11, 2019.
He was a Greek lawyer and New Democracy politician.

Sioufas rearned a degree in political science and public administration at the Panteion University of Athens as well as in law from the University of Thessaloniki.

Dimitris Sioufas was first elected to the Greek Parliament for the Karditsa constituency in the 1981 general election, and has been reelected at every election since.

Sioufas was Deputy Minister of Social Security from August 1991 to December 1992 and Minister of Health, Welfare and Social Services from December 1992 to October 1993.

Following the 2004 parliamentary election, which was won by New Democracy,  he became Minister for Development in the government of Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis on 10 March 2004.

He left this seat when a new government was sworn in on September 19, 2007 and was instead nominated as Speaker of Parliament.

Sioufas has been a member of New Democracy's Central Committee since 1997;  before  he was a member of the Central Committee from 1979 to 1985 and from 1994 to 1997. 

He was also a member of the party's Executive Committee from 1997 to 2001 and a member of its Political Council from 2001 to March 2004.

Sioufas was Secretary General of the New Democracy Parliamentary GroupFrom April 2000 to March 2004.

He was married to Kaity Anagnostaki and had two sons and a daughter.
Dimitris Sioufas passed away at 75 years old.

Alfredo del Mazo González, Mexican politician, Died at 75

Alfredo Hilario Isidro del Mazo González was born on December 31, 1943, and died on January 10, 2019.

He was a Mexican politician González was connected with the Institutional Revolutionary Party.

González was the Governor of the State of Mexico from 1981 to 1986 and as Secretary of Energy during part of Miguel de la Madrid's government.

González represented the PRI in the first election for the Head of Government of the Federal District in 1997 but lost to Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas of the Party of the Democratic Revolution.

González also served briefly as Deputy of the LIX Legislature of the Mexican Congress as a plurinominal representative in 2003.

Juan Francisco Reyes, Guatemalan politician, Died at 80

Juan Francisco Reyes López was born on  July 10, 1938 and died on January 10, 2019. 
 
He  was a Guatemalan politician. 
 
He was appointed the Vice President of Guatemala from January 14, 2000 to January 14, 2004 in the cabinet of president Alfonso Portillo.

Antonio Torres Millera, Spanish politician, Died at 54

Antonio Torres Millera was born on August 20, 1964 and died on January 5, 2019.


He was a Spanish politician and a member of the People's Party of Aragon.


He served as a deputy of the Aragonese Corts, the regional parliament, from 2003 until his death in 2019. 

Torres Millera  was also second Vice President of the Aragonese Corts at the time of his death in 2019.

He died in office from a heart attack at the age of 54.

Torres Millera  was survived by his wife and two kids.

He passed away at 54 years old.

Anatoly Lukyanov, Soviet-born Russian politician, Died at 88

Anatoly Ivanovich Lukyanov was born on May 7, 1930 and died on January 9, 2019.

He was a Russian Communist legislator.

He serve as the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR between March 15, 1990 and 22 August 1991.

He was the writer of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in 1993, he is portrayed by its pioneer Gennady Zyuganov as the "Deng Xiaoping" of the party. Lukyanov distributed books of verse under his very own name and under the pen names (Осенев) and Dneprov (Днепров).

He was an early political partner of Mikhail Gorbachev, supporting his endeavors in issues, for example, the battle against defilement and the beginning of changes in the economy; in any case, starting in 1987-88, he progressively identified with the gathering foundation, accurately predicting that Gorbachev's approaches released powers that would annihilate the USSR.

Lukyanov passed away at 88 years old.
