Sulagitti Narasamma, Indian midwife, Died at 98

Sulagitti Narasamma was born in Krishnapura, Pavagada village and died on December 25, 2018.

She was an Indian midwife.

Sulagitti Narasamma has assisted in performing more than 15,000 traditional deliveries free of charge over a 70-year period of service in deprived regions of Karnataka with no medical facilities.

Narasamma work was honored with the National Citizen's award of India in 2012 and the country’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2018.

Narasamma learned her midwifery skills from her grandmother, Maremma, a midwife who also helped to deliver five of Narasamma's own babies.

At the age of 20, during 1940, Narasamma assisted at her first birth when she helped with the delivery of her aunt's baby.


Then by 2018, at the 97 years old, she had helped to deliver more than 15,000 babies during her years, and has been described as 'the go-to midwife of Krishnapura'.

Sulagitti Narasamma passed away at 98 years old.

Law Hieng Ding, Malaysian politician, Died at 83

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Law Hieng Ding was born on October 4, 1935, and died on December 25, 2018.

He was a Malaysian politician.

Law Hieng Ding served as the deputy minister from 1987 to 1990, and a Cabinet Minister from 1990 to 2004.

Yoshitada Konoike, Japanese politician, Died at 88

Yoshitada Konoike was born on November 28, 1940, and died on December 25, 2018.

He was a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party and member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature).

She was part of the Human Rights, Budget, and Special Commissions on Gender and Equity, Special Commission for Monitoring the Prison Situation of the General Assembly, and was also a member of the Bicameral Women's Bank which is made up of legislators from all the political parties of Uruguay.

Daniela joined the Mercosur Parliament for the period 2010 to 2015. In the 2010 debate, she argued against the use of the theory of the two demons when interpreting the Law on the Expiration of the Punitive Claims of the State.

In 2013, Daniela assumed the first vice presidency of the House of Representatives. In the 2014 general election, she was elected senator for her party. Payssé had six children and eight grandchildren.

Daniela Paysse died from an infection on December 21, 2018 at the age of 72.
