Mircea Petescu was born on October 15, 1943, and died on December 16, 2018.
He was a Romanian footballer and coach.
Following years of preparation, himself and his wife defected while on a state-approved vacation to the Netherlands.
There Petescu began a coaching career and became known for promoting youngsters in the teams he coached.
Petescu was coach of Louis van Gaal at Telstar and Sparta and discovered Danny Blind amongst many other players.
Mircea Petescu passed away at 76 years old.
