Ted Urness, Canadian football player, Died at 81

Harold Edward "Ted" Urness was born on June 23, 1937, and died on December 29, 2018.

He was a football offensive lineman for the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1961 to 1970.

He played in three Gray Cups for the Roughriders, winning one out of 1966, the 54th Gray Cup against the Ottawa Rough Riders, losing two, the 55th Gray Cup of 1967 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and the 57th Gray Cup of 1969 against Ottawa once more.

With the exception of his new kid on the block year, he and the Roughriders never missed the playoffs.

He was an All-Star focus six years in succession and was accepted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1989.

After he left as a player, Ted served as the Chairman for the Saskatchewan Liquor Control Board, and long serving General Manager for Redhead Equipment in Saskatoon.

Ted Urness passed away at 81 years old.
