William A. Thomas  was the 15th head football coach for the Tennessee State University Tigers located in Nashville, Tennessee and he held that position for five seasons, from 1984 until 1988.

Thomas' career coaching record at Tennessee State was 34–20–3.

William A. Thomas passed away at 70 years old.
