Yu Min, Chinese nuclear physicist, Died at 93


Yu Min was born in August 1926, in Tianjin and died January 16, 2019.

He was a well known Chinese nuclear physicist, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and a recipient of Two Bombs, One Satellite Achievement Medal. Min was famous for his excellent performances in Yaohua High School.

He was then appointed by Department of Electronics of Peking University, however, out of the passion for the physical theories, he turned into Department of Physics and made up his mind in working on the theory side.

Yu's name remained the top secret of P.R. China until 1988.

Min was awarded the national top science award in January 2015.

After winning the 5 million CNY prize, he founded the Yu Min Foundation to support scientific development in China.

Yu Min died in Beijing on January 16, 2019.

He passed away 93 years old.
