Jack "Jackie" Fennell was born on May 6, 1933 and died on January 3, 2019.

He was an English professional rugby league footballer. 

He was a player of the 1950s and 1960s.

Jack Fennell played at representative level for Yorkshire Schoolboys (versus Lancashire Schoolboys on Saturday April 24, 1948), and at club level for Bagley's Recs (a pressed glass factory in Knottingley) and Featherstone Rovers (Heritage № 341), as a goal-kicking fullback, wing, centre or stand-off, i.e. number 1, 2 or 5, 3 or 4, or 6.

Jackie Fennell was a Featherstone Rovers Hall of Fame inductee.

Robert Brantley Burrow was born on June 29, 1934 and died on January 3, 2019.

He was an American basketball player.

Bob Burrow is the son of a lumberjack.

He was reviewed as the nation's No. 1 junior college player in 1954 at Lon Morris, where he scored 2,191 points.

Presumably, Adolph Rupp gave Burrow a scholarship without seeing him play in person.

Burrow played cordially for the University of Kentucky and was selected by the Rochester Royals in the 1956 NBA draft.

He was a player for the Royals (1956–57) and Minneapolis Lakers (1957–58) in the NBA for a total of 81 games.

Moffatt Burriss, American politician, Died at 99

Thomas Moffatt Burriss was born on September 22, 1919, in Anderson, South Carolina and died on January 4, 2019.

He was an American businessman and politician representing the state of South Carolina.

He earned his bachelor's degree from the Clemson University.

Burriss served in the South Carolina House of Representatives as a member of the Republican Party from 1977 to 1992, representing Richland County, South Carolina.

Burriss was a general contractor, and also a veteran of World War II.

He was interviewed by Fox News where he explained how during World War II in 2017, at only 24 years old, he successfully tricked an entire German Panzer Corps to surrender to him, under the duress that there was a brigade of tanks and paratroopers behind him ready to attack.

Moffatt Burriss passed away at 99 years old.

Joe Casely-Hayford, British fashion designer, Died at 62

Joseph Ephraim Casely-Hayford was born on May 24, 1956 and died on January 3, 2019.

He was a British fashion designer.

Starting out in the mid-1980s Hayford established an international reputation as one of the UK's most admired and continually relevant designers of men's and women's-wear.

Heyford was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, for services to the fashion industry, in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

 Casely-Hayford met Maria Stevens in 1976 at Saint Martin's School of Art.

The couple got married in 1980, and were life long and business partners until his death in early 2019.

Blake Willard Nordstrom, American businessman, Died at 58

Blake Willard Nordstrom was born on October 4, 1960 in Seattle and died on January 2, 2019 in Seattle.

Blake was an American businessman and banker.

The great-grandson of John W. Nordstrom, Blake served as sole President of the Nordstrom department store chain from 2000 to 2014 and then co-President with his brothers, Peter and Erik Nordstrom, from 2015 until his death in 2019.

He was also a former director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

A graduate of the University of Washington, Blake married Molly A. Lewis in 1988 with whom he had two children.

Hamza Abdullahi, Nigerian politician, Died at 73

Air Vice Marshal Hamza Abdullahi was born on March 2, 1945, in Hadejia, Jigawa State and died January 3, 2019.

He was Governor of Kano State in Nigeria from January 1984 to August 1985 while in the military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari.

When General Ibrahim Babangida came to power, Abdullahi was appointed Minister of Works and Housing, and later Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Hamza Abdullahi attended the Nigeria Air Force Tactical Training Wing, Kaduna in 1964.

Hamza Abdullahi entered the Aircraft Technical Officer’s Course in West Germany (1964–1966) and in 1974 studied at the Royal Military Training Centre in Chichester, England.

He was promoted air vice-marshal in October 1988 and retired from the Nigerian Air Force two months later.

Hamza Abdullahi passed away at 73 years old.

John Thornett, Australian rugby union player, Died at 83

John Edward Thornett was born on March 30, 1935 and died on January 4, 2019.

He was an Australian rugby union player.

He played 37 Tests for Australia somewhere in the range of 1955 and 1967 and made an extra 77 delegate coordinate appearances.

Thornett captained Australia in 16 Test matches and on an extra 47 visit coordinates on the eight worldwide rugby visits he made with Wallaby squads.

He was the second Australian player, after Nicholas Shehadie, to play 100 recreations for his nation.

Thornett was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1966 and drafted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985.

Thornett earned the Australian Sports Medal during 2000.

Thornett was regarded as one of the debut five inductees into the Australian Rugby Union Hall of Fame, in 2005.

Upon his enlistment Australian Rugby Union President Paul McLean alluded to Thornett's name as: "synonymous with Australian pride and incredible administration".

Thornett was also respected by the International Rugby Board in 2013 with enlistment into the IRB Hall of Fame.

Thornett's picture hangs in the workplaces of the Australian Rugby Union.

John Thornett passed away at 83 years of age at a nursing home in Batemans Bay with his better half Vivienne close by.
