Kaye Ballard, American actress, Died at 93

Kaye Ballard was born  Catherine Gloria Balotta on November 20, 1925, and died on January 21, 2019.

She was an American musical theatre and television actress, comedian and singer.

 
She started herself as a musical comedian in the 1940s, joining the Spike Jones touring revue of entertainers. 

She loved playing broad physical comedy as well as stand-up dialogue routines, Ballard became familiar in television and stage productions. 

Apparently,  phrase her mother had used when Kaye was a child, "Good luck with your MOUTH!", became her catchphrase in her sketches and on television. 

She made her television debut on Henry Morgan's Great Talent Hunt,a short-lived NBC program hosted by Henry Morgan which first aired January 26, 1951. 

During 1954, Kaye was the first person to record the song "Fly Me to the Moon".

Ballard died at her home in Rancho Mirage, California on January 21, 2019, at the age of 93.
 
She was in the 2012 cabaret show Doin' It for Love, which premiered in Austin, Texas, at the historic Paramount Theatre.

Marcel Azzola, French accordionist, Died at 91

Marcel Azzola was born on July 10, 1927, and died on January 22, 2019.

 
He was a French accordionist of Italian descent.
 
Azzola mother was from Valbondione and his dad was from Pradalunga. Azzola was conceived in Paris.
 
Azzola performed with Jacques Brel, among others. The well-known line "Chauffe, Marcel!" ("Heat up, Marcel") in Brel's melody Vésoul alludes to he, Azzola, who played the accordion amid the chronicle.

Marcel Azzola passed away at 91 years old.

Themos Anastasiadis, Greek journalist and publisher, Died at 61

Themos Anastasiadis was conceived on January 6, 1958, and kicked the bucket on January 22, 2019.

He was a Greek writer. 
 
He had worked for different papers, essentially Kathimerini and To Vima and Eleftherotypia.
 
Amid 2005, close by TV columnist Makis Triantafyllopoulos, Themos Anastasiadis made another Sunday paper called Proto Thema. 
 
He was additionally the editorial manager of the games paper Protathlitis (Champion); a paper which bolsters Olympiacos, a group which he upheld. 

Other than working in print news coverage, Anastasiades had worked additionally on TV. From 2001 to February 2006 he was the host of "Ola", a week after week humor appear on Alpha TV. 
 
On this show, he used to welcome different identities from Greek showbiz and feature the numerous clever minutes from the Greek TV.

In March 2006, he moved toward becoming the host of the show "OlaXXL" on ANT1 TV. Starting at 2008, the show proceeds with an alternate name every year except containing "Ola".
 
Themos Anastasiadis kicked the bucket on 22 January 2019 in the wake of battling with malignant growth. 
 
He passed away at 61 years of age.

Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, Musician & political activist, Died at 63

Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul was born on January 1, 1956 and died on January 22, 2019 due to a heart attack.

Ahmed was a Bangladeshi lyricist, composer and music director, active since the late 1970s.

He was a freedom fighter who joined the Bangladesh Liberation War at the age of 15.

Ahmed won a number of awards, including Ekushey Padak, National Film Awards and the President's Award.

He was born on 1 January 1956. He studied at West End High School in Azimpur, Dhaka.

Ahmed joined the Bangladesh Liberation war in 1971 when he was 15 years old.

He served in a Mukti Bahini base in Zinzira. His older brother, Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed Tutul, served in the Crack Platoon of the Mukti Bahini.

Ahmed trained in India and fought in Lalbagh Thana and New Market Thana of Dhaka.

In October, Ahmed was captured by Pakistan military and Razakars while returning to India for more training.

Ahmed was transferred to a jail in Mymensigh where he was tortured and witnessed the mass execution of 39 Mukti Bahini prisoners by the Pakistan military.

He transferred to the resident of Dana Miah which served as the local office of the East Pakistan Central Peace Committee.

Ahmed was tortured there along with other members of the Mukti Bahini. He was able to escape from the camp.

Andrew Fairlie, Scottish chef, Died at 55

Andrew Fairlie was born in November 1963, and died on January 22, 2019, he was a Scottish chef.

He was patron of the eponymous Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, an independent business within the Gleneagles Hotel and Resort, in Auchterarder, Perthshire.

Restaurant Andrew Fairlie is the only two Michelin star restaurant in Scotland and one of only fifteen in the UK.

Andrew was born in Perth, Scotland, and grew up in the city's Letham area.

At fifteen he began his training in Perth under Chef Keith Podmore, having become interested in food after starting a job at a hotel polishing glasses.

At twenty Andrew was awarded the first Roux Scholarship, giving him the chance to train with French chef Michel Guérard at Les Pres d’Eugenie in Les Landes.

This, and Fairlie’s time at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, profoundly influenced his culinary approach.

After returning to the UK, he held a number of high-profile positions, before returning home to Scotland.

At One Devonshire Gardens - where he was appointed head chef in 1994, he won his first Michelin Star, the only one in Glasgow at the time.

Andrew opened his own restaurant at the Gleneagles Hotel in 2001 and received a Michelin star within eight months.

At Gleneagles he invented his signature dish, a locally sourced lobster smoked over whisky barrel chips.

He also began growing rare fruits and vegetables for use in his dishes. In 2005 Fairlie catered for the 31st G8 summit and is said to have impressed French president Jacques Chirac.

The restaurant was awarded a second Michelin star in 2006.

On 6 November 2018, Andrew Fairlie announced he would step down from his Gleneagles restaurant after revealing he had a terminal brain tumour, and would hand over to his head chef and business partner in February 2019. 

Andrew's father, Jim announced his son's death on 22 January 2019.

Fairlie married his partner Kate, with whom he has two daughters, after receiving his terminal diagnosis.

Andrew Fairlie passed away at the age of 55 on January 22, 2019 due to brain cancer.

Mithra Wettimuny, Sri Lankan cricketer, Died at 67

Mithra de Silva Wettimuny was born on June 11, 1951, and died on January 20, 2019.

He was a Sri Lankan cricketer.

He played in two Tests and one One Day International (ODI) in 1983.

He was one of three siblings to represent the country (all opening batsmen), elder brother Sunil played in the 1975 and 1979 Cricket World Cups while youngest brother Sidath scored Sri Lanka's first Test match hundred.

He became well know as captain due to the successful Ceylon Schools team which toured India in 1969/70, a team which included future Test captains Bandula Warnapura and Duleep Mendis.

In the early 80's Sri Lanka gained Test status, and by then in his early thirties, Wettimuny's entire first-class cricket career incorporated nine matches in four countries in 127 days (his highest score being 55 on debut against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in November 1982).

Mithra Wettimuny passed away at 67 years old.

Jimmy Rayl, American basketball player, Died at 77

James R. Rayl was born on June 21, 1941, in Kokomo, Indiana and died on January 20, 2019.

He was an American professional basketball player in the ABA.

Rayl stood at 6'2" and 175 lb guard. He was selected by the Cincinnati Royals in the third round and 23rd pick of the 1963 NBA draft.

Later, Rayl signed and played two seasons for the Indiana Pacers.

In his career, his average of 11.1 ppg.

Jimmy Rayl passed away 77 years.
