Larry Langford, American politician, Died at 72

Larry Paul Langford was born on March 17, 1946 and died on January 8, 2019.

He was an American politician.

He had a one term tenure as the mayor of the city of Birmingham, Alabama.

Langford died when he was hospitalized on compassianate discharge from serving out a 15-year government lawful offense sentence.

He was recently the Jefferson County, Alabama, Commission, including four years as the primary African-American commission president.

Then he filled in as civic chairman of Fairfield, Alabama, and served one term on the Birmingham City Council.

Going into legislative issues, he was an outstanding TV character, having worked for then-nearby ABC TV member, WBRC as the network's first African-American TV news journalist.
